My husband and I became foster parents in 2023 and Foster the Family was just getting started. They were so amazing to us!! Our first placement was for two sweet siblings. One was 5 weeks and the other was 13 months. Foster the Family helped our first few nights go much more smoothly!! We received diapers, wipes, a can of formula, a crib and bassinet sheet and an outfit for each of them. On top of this – they lent us a stroller and car seat!! Just an amazing ministry!! Our next placement was no different and the same with our third. They allowed us to check out big items such as a wagon, a car seat and TWO bases so we could have one in each car! Foster the Family has truly been and continues to be the hands and feet of Jesus! We’ll forever be thankful for them!

Our first call as foster parents was for a newborn baby. At the time, we were better set up for preschool and elementary aged kids. We had less than 24 hours to get everything we needed to bring the little guy home. We ended up at Target buying over $500 worth of baby supplies that night. These Target runs were almost daily for the next couple of weeks while we tried to figure out a newborn baby. Fortunately, we had the finances available to do this, but what if we hadn’t?
This is the gap Foster the Family fills. By maintaining a library of big ticket items, we aim to provide a way for foster families to get what they need without having to spend a dime. This opens up the doors to say yes to more calls. We also aim to provide a Cozy Case full of supplies to help get through the first couple of days to children in new foster placements.

When we took our first ever foster placement, the last thing we wanted to think about was finding a crib and a car seat. We unfortunately had to spend more time finding a crib than we did talking and praying with our family about the situation. The next morning I had to wake up early and run to Wal-Mart to purchase a car seat before making it to work. Foster the Family can alleviate the stress of having to find or purchase critical items, and foster families will have so much stress taken off of them in those first 24 hrs that are some of the most difficult/stressful.
