Foster the Family is a beacon of hope in our community, founded by the passionate duo Laura Meyer and Amanda Kasten. Their heartfelt mission is to ensure that no child has to face the uncertainty of foster care alone. With a vision centered on creating a supportive Christian community, they aim to uplift both foster and birth families as they navigate the challenges of caring for children.
Established against the backdrop of a pressing need—where around 80-100 children were in the local foster care system with only about 50% placed in homes—Foster the Family has become a vital resource for families. Their thoughtful programs include a large item loan library, providing essential items like car seats, beds, and strollers, and the “Cozy Cases,” special kits filled with clothes, pajamas, books, and stuffed animals to help children feel a sense of belonging during those crucial first 48 hours in a new home.
Community involvement is the lifeblood of Foster the Family. They host annual events such as the Daddy/Daughter Dance and Mommy/Son Glow Night, which not only raise funds but also foster connection among families. Their private Facebook group serves as a platform for supporters to connect with foster families, ensuring no one feels alone in their journey.
Vision & Values
At Foster the Family, our core mission is to fill gaps and remove roadblocks that prevent foster children from finding loving homes. We are committed to loving, encouraging, and building up foster and birth families through support and the provision of physical and tangible needs.
Our vision is for foster and birth families to thrive within a Christian community that supports them as they reunite families and care for God’s children. We strive to supply necessary material items, sustain ongoing services for foster and adoptive families, and equip individuals to engage in caring for children and families in need.
